The Guild Mark schemes are administered by the Furniture Makers’ Company, the City of London livery company and central organisation of the furniture industry. The MGM is awarded only to companies who meet the highest standards of manufacturing, design, product quality, marketing, finance, commitment to training, employment conditions and sustainability.
Boss Design is one of the first companies to be assessed under new, revised criteria, and a new system of assessing eligibility via a third party audit, conducted on behalf of The Furniture Makers by FIRA.
“We’re absolutely delighted that Boss Design has been awarded an MGM,” says the MGM committee chairman, Alex Wyllie. “The MGM is all about quality British furniture manufacturing for all markets, whether domestic or contract furniture sold in the UK or the rest of the world, and Boss is exactly the type of business we hope to attract to the scheme and which we feel will benefit from being recognised as a Guild Mark holder. Congratulations, Boss!”
Founded in 1983, Boss Design is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of high quality office seating, upholstery and tables, and enjoys global success within this design-led sector. Privately owned, Boss Design is part of the Boss Design Group, which includes the Lyndon Design and Komac furniture brands.
“Pride doesn’t begin to cover the way we feel at Boss for being honoured with the highly-recognised Manufacturing Guild Mark,” says operations manager Virginia Seaward. “Accolades of this nature remind us that being a responsible, productive and sustainable manufacturer is a continuous journey. Being audited and recognised for what we do will allow us to continually remain innovative and sharing the belief to deliver only responsible manufacturing practices."
